Glen Gillespie will serve as OIAAA Interim Executive Director
The Ohio Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (OIAAA), has announced that Glen Gillespie, CAA, will serve as Interim Executive Director. Glen retired after 35 years in education and 22 as an Athletic Director. As an AD, Glen worked in Marietta (5), New London (3), Wilmington (1) and spent his last 13 years at Sylvania Southview High School retiring in 2012. Glen will succeed Bruce Brown, who passed away last month after a long battle with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis and liver cancer. “I am truly humbled to be the Interim Executive Director of the OIAAA. Bruce was a friend and a great leader for this organization. I wish it weren’t under these terms, but it’s an honor to represent the position in his passing,” stated Gillespie.
Glen has been on the Northwest District Athletic Directors Board and a state and national presenter. He has served on the NIAAA Publications Committee from 2002-2015 and was the editor for the Ideas That Work section of the IAA magazine. He is a member of the LTI national faculty and was Chair of LTI 608. In 2012 Glen was appointed Ohio LTI coordinator and the Newsletter Editor. He received the state NFHS Citation award in 2007 and was a 2012 inductee into the OIAAA Hall of Fame. In 2014 was awarded the NIAAA Distinguished Service Award.
Gillespie said, “The OIAAA is a national leader in educational athletics because of the work of Bruce Brown. These are uncertain times given the health crisis and how it affects the future of athletics in schools, but we will continue on the path he laid out for us and be leaders for the Athletic Administrators of Ohio in his honor.”
The OIAAA is excited to have Glen Gillespie step into the role of interim executive director and looks forward to his leadership in his new role.
